Most guys working the indies have one common goal. Get off the indies. Very few people will ever get the opportunity to step into a WWE or TNA ring and actually get paid decent money for what they do. Some will be eternally stuck working for smaller promotions, but will do it anyway because of their love of the sport. At any rate, these are the top 5 guys I believe are ready to make the next step to national TV. Check out the list after the jump.
1.) Mike Bennett
If anyone in Ring Of Honor had the WWE look, it is Mike Bennett. Apparently WWE is very interested in the man and even thinking about bringing back his real life girlfriend Maria Kanellis with him. A true heel, Bennett can easily draw heat on the indies so he should have no trouble in WWE. His style already matches that of the WWE as he isn’t to stiff, and doesn’t do to many high spots, he would fit right in. I have often said that Bennett and Maria could be what Dolph and AJ aren’t.
2.) Brian Cage
Brian Cage recently was apart of the TNA Gut Check and I have no idea why he isn’t on Impact immediately. He has the perfect look and matches it with his in ring ability. The man can wrestle and can pretty much match any style of opponent. He has the look, he has the ability, and he has the charisma. I think it is only a matter of time before Mr. Get My Shit In is on WWE or TNA TV. They would be stupid not so sign this man.
3.) Michael Elgin
Elgin is quite possibly the strongest man on the indy scene today. He can do things nobody else can, which automatically makes him interesting. The only thing holding him back is his promo’s and quite possibly his height. The man is a tank and can do pretty much anything in the ring, but he is low to the ground which could hurt his chances in the long run. He reminds me of Chris Benoit. Soft spoken, but can do things in the ring nobody else can. I would love to see Elgin get the chance at national exposure.
4.) Sami Callihan
Apparently WWE has shown interest in the Callihan Death Machine, and rightfully so. Another guy that can do pretty much anything from chain wrestling, to hardcore brawling. The only thing possibly holding him back is his size, but at around the same size as Daniel Bryan, there is no reason why he can’t be successful. He can cut an excellent promo, his ring work is great, and he can work a crowd. He reminds me a lot of Dean Ambrose.
5.) Tommaso Ciampa
Tommaso recently suffered a set back tearing his ACL in a match against Jay Lethal. The surgery has put him out for a year. At the time he was the hottest thing going in ROH not named Kevin Steen. He has the look, can cut a decent promo when given the mic, and works well with anyone. If Tommaso rebounds well it would be awesome to see him get signed. Here is to a speedy and healthy recovery.
